Well, I'm pretty sure I was going to write a longer blog post tonight than this. But Emi, you woke up crying and thrashing in what I assume was a post-Halloween dreaming overtired meltdown. You could only calm down and get back to sleep when mommy tapped a specific rhythm on your back for a long time. But while I was doing that I saw the remnants of infant Emi in your face and wanted to keep tapping your back forever. Parenthood in a nutshell right there, right? Sigh...
Anyhow, this is what we've been up to:
- Spirit week at school had you dressing up as superheroes/fairy tale characters one day...
(Word Girl from the PBS show, and a knight) |
- Occupations another day...
(Astronaut and an 'instruction worker') |
- And, of course, crazy hair day.
- We had some super cold mornings...
- And several milder days that called for leaf pile jumping.
- Emi, at your Pre-K Fall Festival you and your teachers and classmates made scarecrows, painted fall trees, and milled apples to make applesauce!
- Maya, you taught your sister how to play chess (sort of) and lost a tooth!
- Emi, you've taken to hugging trees and writing in notebooks and asking us to read it.
- And for Halloween you were both ninjas! You've been waiting since about March to wear these awesome, authentic ninja outfits that your grandparents sent over from Japan. Mommy (who surprised you both by coming up with a last-minute scarecrow costume) was at school to help with your classroom party, Maya, so I was able to help both of you put the outfits on for the parade. We skipped the swords, hoods and shoes for that part, but then put on the whole outfit to visit Grandma and Papa Stan, Rhi's library, the firehouse party, and go trick-or-treating. You two were running from house to house with a group of much bigger kids and totally keeping up with them. Emi, you tripped and fell twice but never stopped. No wonder you're having problems sleeping tonight!
Well, Emi, you've started crying again so mommy's on duty. Love you both!
