Another school year ends...

Dear Maya and Emi,

Ahhh, it's been about 6 weeks since the last post, but mommy's been waiting specifically for today to write this. Today is the last day of school!! There have been so many activities lately in your classes that I felt like I really just needed to wait for the end to write about them. Here we go...

  • Spring into Learning event: Maya, you did a research project (on animals, no surprise) and both of you enjoyed all the activities from the book fair to the birds of prey show to the ice cream

  • Emi photo shoot: Since Maya was at a friend's for a sleepover, mommy got to do a little photo shoot just of you, Emi. You were as sweet and silly as always.

  • Sleepover: Maya, your friend came to our house for a sleepover, too. We went to the stream, to do some dogsitting, and to the Memorial Day Parade together.

  • Debut performances: You two both performed at the Rhinebeck Farmer's Market! Maya, you sang "Rainbow Connection" and Emi, you sang and played "Three Little Birds" on the ukulele. You both sounded so good and we were all super proud of you!

  • Beach party: Our whole family went to the beach to celebrate Aunt Kelsie and Aunt Bobbie's birthday. You had so much fun with your cousins.

  • Field Trip: Maya, mommy got to be a chaperone at your field trip to the Children's Museum of Science and Technology! You got to do some engineering, chemistry experiments, and all kinds of other cool things there with your classmates.

  • Other fun school days: You both had field days. Maya, you had some theme days like rock star day. Also, mommy volunteered in your classroom a few times including one time where I taught about Japanese festivals such as Girls' Day and Boys' Day. Emi, you even got to come into your sister's class that day to enjoy ice cream with her classmates!

  • And finally, you both had Moving Up ceremonies! You're going to be in 3rd grade and Kindergarten soon!!

Here's to a beautiful summer with you two. Hopefully you can tone down all the bickering you've been doing lately and find lots of fun things to do with each other and individually. We have lots of music and reading and adventures planned so fingers crossed!! Love you both!

Bunnies, Breaks and Blossoms

Dear Maya and Emi,

Wow! Mommy should have written an extra post after the last one because now, looking back, we've done so much this past month. Hold onto your hats because I have a lot of photos and tidbits to share. Here we go!

  • Easter! We colored eggs, visited Nanny and Poppy, hunted for gifts and eggs hidden by the Easter Bunny, and had a great family gathering at Grandma and Papa Stan's house.

  • Spring Break! Mommy tried to keep you guys busy every single day of spring break. We went to a lighthouse:

  • We walked around Woodstock:

  • We went to the local Botanical Gardens:

  • We went to a May Day daffodil festival at a historical estate:

  • And you both went swimming and to music lessons (even though you're not in the photos, Maya):

  • Field Trip! Emi, you had your first field trip to the Hancock Shaker Village (or as you once said, the "Handshake Village") to see the baby animal exhibit. Mommy was chosen as a chaperone and we had a great time!

  • Blossoms! Maya, you came with mommy to a photo shoot at a local orchard and even had your own poses for me!

Aside from all of these events, we also celebrated a bunch of family birthdays and Mother's Day. Like I said, it's been a full month!

Well, mommy has to get some work done now. Love you both!
