Summer 2022 Wrap Up

Dear Maya and Emi,

What a summer it's been! We were supposed to have spent most of August in Japan but due to Covid restrictions and visa issues we had to postpone. So instead, this is how we spent the rest of our summer:

  • Summer rec program--aside from lots of hiking and climbing trees and crafts and stream time and pool time, you also had all kinds of fun field trips including mini golf and bowling!
    (photos courtesy of camp counselors)

  • Learning and growing--Emi, you worked on your chopsticks skills and Maya, you worked on your Lego skills. Both of you grew sunflowers and went to the zoo and a farm with Grandma.

  • Family vacation to Old Orchard Beach, Maine part 1--we spent our days going from the beach to the pool and back again. Our hotel was right on the water so we even got to watch sunrise one morning. It was beautiful!

  • Vacation part 2--we also spent plenty of time hanging out away from the water in the way of rides, the arcade, and mini golf.

  • Vacation part 3--on the last day we went to Portland for a whale watch...but all we saw were seals, a porpoise, and a huge ocean sunfish. It was lots of fun, though!

And now it's Back to School time!! This morning is super rainy, dark, and chilly so the first day of school photos aren't very exciting, but we had a pretty good morning getting ready. Maya, you're going into 6th grade and Emi, you're going into 3rd grade. We can't wait to see what this year holds for you!

Okay, time to sign off and share a sneak peek of our family photos we had done in Maine. Love them and love you both!

Miss Emi is EIGHT!

Dear Emi,

This post is for you on your eighth birthday! How did we get to eight already!?!?

We celebrated with a family party last Friday. You chose a glow-in-the-dark theme after finding a birthday candle that promised to glow in the dark. It was a great plan as mommy already had a few blacklights so we just got some glowsticks, neon decorations, and that was that! You got adorable clothes, toys, a makeup kit, a gift certificate for a manicure, and even an edible fruit arrangement from our family. It was so fun!

Then the celebration continued with a playdate with a few of your friends yesterday.

Now, here are some photos of you from over the last year to see how you've grown!
