Patients and some patience

Dear Maya and Emi,

Maybe mommy does need to go back to blogging weekly, because I'm having a hard time remembering what happened in the last couple weeks. School has been busy for you, Maya, work has been busy for daddy and mommy, and Emi, you've been busy having tantrums, and worrying us with an outbreak of hives! Luckily the hives are gone but I think the tantrums are going to be around for a while. Sigh... Here are some photos from mommy's phone to sum up these two weeks:

Maya doing Emi's hair
The final look
'Trophies' and animals--a display I came home to after work one day last week
Dr. Maya's list of patients to see:
Jaguar, Rudolph, Turtle, Panda, Mama, Bat
Horse, Dugong (all are stuffed animals she has)
Maya and I went out for dinner and to the park last weekend by ourselves.
We'd been butting heads a lot and needed the quality time. It was really fun!

Emi loves all the packages I get for work--the bigger the box, the better!
This was the first real ponytail Emi has had. She kept it in all day!
These silly kids!
Well, mommy has lots to get done today. Love you both!

Kindergarten and apple picking!

Dear Maya and Emi,

We've had a really special week, ladies! Mommy has more photos than I know what to do with for this post for a change, so be sure to click on the link in the right hand column to see more. I'll stick some of my favorites in this post, though, and sum everything up in just a few short sentences.

Maya, you started kindergarten this week! Emi and I joined you the first day for orientation, but the next two days on your own you handled like it was nothing. You've been preparing your own snacks and, to some extent, picking out your own clothes. We're so proud of you!

Today we had some quality family time at our favorite orchards picking apples, strawberries, and pumpkins. We were worried about the weather when we had rainstorms this morning, but it actually helped with all the heat and humidity we've had lately. It was such a beautiful day!

Well, mommy has some work to do before bed. Love you both!

Fair, park, and party

Dear Maya & Emi,

Mommy's blog posts aren't as frequent as they used to be, but life is hectic lately so it's not surprising. As long as I make it in here at least every other week I seem to be able to capture the highlights of your daily lives and ours as we watch you grow and explore. Here's what we've been up to lately:
  • The County Fair! Maya you loved the rides and even went on a small roller coaster, a bungee trampoline, a bubble hamster wheel thingy, and a high obstacle course by yourself! Emi, you were not a fan of your first real ride--the carousel--so mommy had to pull you off the horse and hold you until it was over. You both loved your first corn dogs and visiting with all the animals and the rest of the sights and sounds, though.

  • The last Friday of summer we spent the afternoon at the park and went out for ice cream!

  • A Labor Day weekend barbecue party at Charlotte, Steve, Wyatt, and Natalie's house! Emi, you loved the outdoor play house and the trampoline. Maya, you loved playing with the kitten and playing football/wrestling with your buddy Wyatt. It was such a nice night!

Well, mommy needs some sleep.A busy Labor Day tomorrow and school starting soon! Love you both!
