The Promise of Spring

Dear Maya and Emi,

As mommy is writing this post, it's quiet. So quiet. Why? For the first time in exactly 400 days, you're both in school! Today you went back to school for the first time since Covid and, though we're all feeling a bit weird and nervous, we're all really excited about it, too. I can't wait to hear how your day goes!

It's been almost 2 months since I've posted because I've been basically starting a new business on top of running my other business and working another job. Whew! But in the meantime, Baba has become a full-time dad and you all have been having so much fun together. It's beautiful to see!

Here are some of the other exciting things we've had going on lately:

Since mommy has been working so much, we've been doing one-on-one mother-daughter dates lately. Maya, you and I went out to eat and for a walk on the Rail Trail. Emi, you and I went out to eat and to a ukulele shop. I'm already looking forward to our next special dates!

Easter! We celebrated Easter in stages--first we had an egg decorating party and egg hunt with your cousins at Grandma and Papa Stan's house to celebrate the fact that they are fully vaccinated! Then we asked the Easter Bunny to visit our house a couple days early because mommy had a very busy weekend. He hid eggs filled with dollar bills, and your baskets were sea-themed with bathing suits, sea creature bath bombs, a sprinkler, octopus kites, Pirate's Booty snacks, and some shirts and jump ropes, too.

During spring break we spent two days at Nanny's house because she's fully vaccinated, too!

Baba's birthday! He had 2 days of celebrations with 2 cakes and picked out his own gift--an air fryer!

Well, mommy is going to go get some work done while you're at school. I'm getting my second dose of the vaccine tomorrow and we're going to get Baba signed up soon, too. So things will be turning around soon, I'm sure. I'm very proud of you both for how well you've dealt with everything this past year.

Love you both!
