Omi, Oh my, Emi

Dear Maya and Emi,

I know mommy writes this just about every week lately, but the past week really has been a blur. I've been preparing your outgrown clothes and other items for a consignment sale this weekend, plus doing the usual errands/housekeeping/childrearing, plus daddy and I have been feeling run down.

We made up for a week of 'meh' with one day of 'wow' though. We finally visited the Omi outdoor sculpture park that mommy has been meaning to go to forever. It was the perfect little outing on the perfect fall day and mommy got to take some perfect pictures of you having fun, Maya.

Emi, you've been smiling a little more for the camera lately, too. Thanks to the vibrating rocker chair that Aunt Kelsie gave us you've even been more agreeable when mommy has to put you down in order to cook dinner. And did I mention you slept through the night on Saturday?!?!? We put you to bed at 7:30 after getting home from a long day of shopping and visiting your great grandparents and, surprisingly, didn't hear from you again until 5:15am! Too bad we haven't had a repeat yet, though.

Well, mommy's going to bed at a decent time tonight! Love you two!

Falling leaves and bacon?

Dear Maya and Emi,

The last week or so has been pretty busy and pretty rough. We've had lots of errands to run and coordinating them with your nap schedules and eating schedules, etc., has been a challenge. I guess that's why you both have had some cranky, trying days lately. Hopefully that will improve soon!

In the meantime, this tired mommy has tons of photos to share but not much time (or energy!) to write much about our week. So here's the abbreviated version:

  • greeting sheep and picking beans at the farm

  • sitting by the ferns while dogsitting

  • shopping with a little girl who's excited for Halloween

  • giggling with a baby in a bacon onesie (thanks, Grandpa!)

  • and playing in lots of beautiful leaves at the park!

Well, mommy needs some rest! Love you two!

Apples of my eye

Dear Maya and Emi,

Maya, mommy has to apologize that we haven't been able to go to the farm much this summer to get our crop share and pick vegetables. Between the end of pregnancy, Emi's birth and the aftermath, I just wasn't up to it. But starting this past week until the season ends in November, we're going to get back to our roots (har har). Going to the farm is going to be our special time each week, and this first time back was a really fun start. I know you really enjoy it there so mommy's looking forward to it.

We made our annual trip to pick apples last weekend. It was mommy's favorite farm so we also picked red and golden raspberries and a few pears and pumpkins, too. It was such nice weather for your first time, Emi, and we think you might have gotten the hang of spotting good apples already!

Emi your two-month checkup was this week. Everything looks great and you've gained another inch and another two pounds and five ounces! The appointment went very well except for lots of spitting up on the exam table and a crazy hyper/super needy big sister thrown in the mix. Ah, well.

Other highlights this week were you girls getting loved on by family and friends near and far. Maya, you've finally started speaking on the phone once in a while, chatting with your Great-Grandparents last week and Grandma today. You've also gotten bedtime Skypes the last two nights with Auntie Sam in Australia and Grandpa in North Carolina. Emi, you just about melted in your Great-Aunt Sue Sue's arms today. It makes mommy so happy to see you both get and give love to everyone.

Well, mommy needs her rest. Love you two!
